SEFtec will be attending the 2024 International Partnering Forum (IPF) in New Orleans this week (April 22-25). Contact us if you want to meet!
What a year we have had here at SEFtec. Below are just some of the highlights:
SEFtec has now commissioned it’s latest custom Cabin Crew Fire Trainer at Saudia Academy, the leading aviation training centre in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A Helideck Fire Trainer is a specialist fire training prop which replicates various fire and rescue scenarios of a helicopter that experiences a heavy landing on an offshore helideck.
Beyond the standard fire props required for GWO and OPITO, our next most popular is a Flashover container. When fighting a fire in an enclosed space, firefighters must remain vigilant to the dangers of a flashover fire.
SEFtec produces a wide range of HUETs. One of our most popular is the SEFtec Configurable HUET, or as we call it the Config. Not only is the Config a little larger than our standard HUET, all the exit panels can be moved or swapped out.
When we were asked to design a boat capsize trainer for the Singapore Police Coast Guard’s elite Special Task Squadron we wanted to create as realistic a training scenario as possible. That meant, unlike traditional HUETs, this one couldn’t be dunked into the water from a height.
Fighting an aircraft fire is a specialist task with unique challenges. Maintaining readiness of fire-fighters is crucial and impossible without realistic training props. SEFtec can custom design and build an ARFT to your exact requirements.
Petans Ltd, based in Norwich in the UK, has been the benchmark for professional safety and survival training for the offshore industry for over 40 years. Their relationship with SEFtec began in 2018 and continues to this day.
Every offshore worker undergoes regular HUET training. It is to prepare them for something that will hopefully never happen. What would it look like if it ever did happen? Would you remember your training?
When Mr. Ferdinand Agu, former Director General of the National Maritime Authority (NMA), now Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) , and the Hydrographer of the Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral Ayo Olugbode, visited the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron in Akwa Ibom, both men expressed admiration at the transformation they saw.
Because there is the one consideration that should never be overlooked during training: SAFETY.
Your delegates are your responsibility.
The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) sets training standards for those wishing to work in the wind industry. As wind turbines increase rapidly in height, it is of utmost importance that employees are well-versed in advanced rescue techniques. Accidents or emergencies, whether caused by technical malfunctions, extreme weather conditions, or medical emergencies, may require immediate response and the ability to rescue colleagues from precarious situations.
The Polish Sea Rescue Training Centre at the Maritime University of Szczecin has selected a SEFtec HUET and jib to complete their training facility. A competitive tender process was implemented earlier this year to find the ideal supplier. SEFtec, through their local partners Parasnake, were chosen for the prestigious installation.
The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) sets training standards for those wishing to work in the wind industry. The GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) standard is intended for all workers to ensure their safety while performing their duties. The BST standard has 5 modules, each of which is focused on the needs of workers in a Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) environment.
A traditional HUET is submerged before its buoyancy rolls it. This offers excellent initial training in exit procedures. However, during a controlled ditching, a helicopter would land on the water surface. Then, due to its inherent instability, it can very easily flip over. In this case the cabin is submerged after the helicopter rolls.
Here is Leanne Farrell, Associate Director of the National Offshore Wind Institute (NOWI) at Bristol Community College giving some more details on the new GWO Sea Survival Training Facility supplied by SEFtec.
Jennifer Menard, Vice President of Economic & Business Development for the National Offshore Wind Institute (NOWI) spoke recently about how they future-proofed their new offshore wind training facility by including a SEFtec HUET trainer.
Kersten Training Academy has taken delivery of a SEFtec Modular Training Unit (MTU) at their facility on the Staatsolie site in Paramaribo, Suriname. The facility will be Suriname’s first OPITO-approved training facility, offering a wide range of courses, including BOSIET and HUET courses.
The January 2022 issue of Singapore’s ‘Police Life Magazine’ features a two-page spread on their latest training technology; an Underwater Egress Training System (UETS) custom designed by SEFtec to replicate the PK Interceptor boats used by their elite Special Task Squadron.
“I strongly believe that the officers’ confidence is the most crucial element that helps them to be mentally prepared for such situations. This is also a crucial capability that the UETS helps to build through the repeated drills we conduct,” shared SI Adrian.
