The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) sets training standards for those wishing to work in the wind industry. As wind turbines increase rapidly in height, it is of utmost importance that employees are well-versed in advanced rescue techniques. Accidents or emergencies, whether caused by technical malfunctions, extreme weather conditions, or medical emergencies, may require immediate response and the ability to rescue colleagues from precarious situations.
Equipping wind turbine employees with advanced rescue techniques enhances their safety knowledge and capabilities, enabling them to handle unforeseen circumstances effectively. By mastering these techniques, employees can minimize the risk of injury, reduce downtime, and demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a high standard of safety and preparedness within the industry.
The GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART) standard is aimed at a subset of wind farm employees who will be tasked with rescue activities in the event of an emergency on-site. The training involves instruction and realistic scenario-based training in a wide array of rescues from various areas of a Wind Turbine Generator (WTG), such as:
Nacelle
Hub
Spinner
Blade
Tower
Basement
These scenarios expose the trainees to the specialist challenges that they will face in the real world, including:
Enclosed spaces
Working at heights
Fire scenarios
Medical emergencies
Evacuations

Yes, SEFtec can deliver complete GWO ART training facilities. Like all SEFtec training facilities, the GWO ART facilities can all be delivered as stand-alone facilities or integrated into a larger facility. So whether you need a specialist GWO facility (for one or more training modules) or a facility that can also incorporate elements of OPITO (Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation) and STCW (Standards of Training and Certification in Watchkeeping) training, SEFtec can tailor our designs to your exact requirements.
