CLIENT FOCUS - Petans Ltd

Petans Ltd, based in Norwich in the UK, has been the benchmark for professional safety and survival training for the offshore industry for over 40 years. Their relationship with SEFtec began in 2018 when they purchased a SEFtec Configurable HUET to replace their aging unit.

2018 – SEFtec Configurable HUET

When their large carbonaceous-burn fire training facility was threatened by tightening environmental conditions due to their location beside Norwich Airport, Petans approached SEFtec about upgrading to a clean-burning facility. SEFtec replaced their large 12 container fire stack, delivering a 440m2 facility with 11 clean-burning propane-fuelled fire training props. The props were positioned both internally and externally, over 3 levels to create a highly challenging training environment.

SEFtec also delivered one new carbonaceous-burn container to allow controlled training with real smoke on days when conditions allowed.

At the same time, SEFtec upgraded the existing helideck fire prop by incorporating a SEFtec clean-burn propane system. This provided both internal and external fires that could be controlled via radio pendants.

2019 - SEFtec Fire Training Stack

In 2020, SEFtec delivered a number of stand-alone gas props. These included fire wall, barrel stack and gas cylinder fire props.

Then in 2022 came 2 large fire props; a crashed helicopter fire prop and a mini-bus fire prop. The crashed helicopter replicated an offshore helicopter that had crashed onto its side. It included internal seating for search and rescue scenarios, with entry via top-mounted door and window. The prop included a small internal electrical fire and a large external spill fire.

The minibus fire prop replicated a full-sized mini-bus with driver and passenger seating and luggage area, complete with hinged and sliding personnel doors and a rear door to access the luggage area. It featured five fires (engine bay fire, wheel/brake fire, steering column fire, passenger seat fire and luggage fire), which allows a wide range of road traffic collision (RTC) fire training scenarios to be enacted.

This close relationship continues with on-going service contracts ensuring all of these props continue to provide top-quality training for Petans clients.
