When fighting a fire in an enclosed space, firefighters must remain vigilant to the dangers of a flashover fire. Smoke is a result of incomplete combustion and is composed of tiny, unburned particles. When exposed to increased oxygen, these particles can ignite through their own heat or if exposed to an open flame, resulting in a dramatic flashover effect.
Firefighters must be trained to watch out for the warning signs of a potential flashover, to minimise the risk of a flashover and to respond correctly to a flashover should it occur. Critical to this training is exposing firefighters to realistic flashover scenarios in a controlled and safe environment.
SEFtec Flashover Trainers produce a controlled flashover effect that is fuelled by clean-burning propane gas. The trainer allows instructors to expose trainees to a flashover fire, getting them used to the heat and the required fire-fighting techniques, without exposing them to the unpredictable behaviour of an actual flashover event. The SEFtec Flashover Trainer is controlled by a radio pendant and comes complete with temperature and gas monitoring and alarms. The SEFtec safety control systems allow the flashover to be started with the push of a button and immediately shut down in an emergency.
The trainer is housed in a shipping container, which is fully finished in our factory and shipped to site, anywhere in the world. The installation on-site is then a simple process of positioning the container and connecting the required utilities.
